Vicki (1940)
There was another girl involved there, that I met in Oakland. Kenneth's wife Ida was running an apartment, and I was staying with them. Seemed Ida was always getting' acquainted with everybody in the neighborhood, and I met this girl through her. How she'd met her, I don't know. Her name was Vicki. I forgot her last name. So I started runnin' around with her.
We went back down around San Diego from Oakland the ship went down to Long Beach in San Diego, before it went over to Hawaii and the same guy that drove them up drove the car back down with Ida and all the kids. Vicki came with them.
So Ida brought Vicki down to a little town north of San Diego, and they rented a place there. I started going out with Vicki. 'Course I was still married to Lorraine.
Then we went on out to Hawaii. I went out to Hawaii and I was gonna' get divorced, see. I got divorced in Pearl Harbor for I don't know whether it was 60 or 80 dollars sticks in my mind. Guaranteed. Took about ten minutes, I think. You walk up before the judge, and they just said, "Divorce granted. Next!" I think that was 1940.
I also got in the hospital, on account of my kidney stones. I had to go to Pearl Harbor hospital. I was in there I guess a week or two.
